Field note — photographed on site
New-construction wall and roofline foam, Greater Houston
- Region
- Greater Houston
- Building type
- Single-family, new construction, pre-drywall
- Assembly
- Exterior wall cavities and a vaulted ceiling at the roofline
- Condition found
- Open framing. Wiring, plumbing stub-outs, bracing and blocking through most bays.
- System selected
- Open-cell spray foam
- Why
- Cavities are irregular once the trades have finished, so a cut batt leaves voids behind pipes and blocking. Foam expands into them. Vapor-open at the roofline so a future roof leak shows itself on the ceiling below.
- Documented
- Applied depth verified during application and recorded on the scope sheet left on site.
