Completed spray foam insulation across the walls of a new-construction room, ready for drywall

About

About Phantom Foam

A Houston insulation contractor that writes the scope down before it starts, and sends the people who quoted the job to do it.

Free on-site assessment across the eight-county Houston-Galveston region. Monday to Saturday.

How we work

A written scope, and the people who wrote it on site

Two things go wrong with how insulation is usually sold in this city. Quotes arrive as a number with no scope attached, so nobody can tell afterwards what was supposed to happen. And the person who quoted the job is often absent on the day.

We do it the other way round. Every job gets a written scope — areas, system, applied depth, exclusions, price — before anything is ordered. The spraying is done in-house rather than handed to a sub, so the crew that sprays it is the crew that walked it with you.

Depth is measured during application rather than estimated once it is out of reach, because applied thickness is the one thing that decides whether a foam job performs, and the easiest thing in this trade to short.

Ownership

Who owns Phantom Foam

Cole Moore founded the company and owns it. Greater Houston work runs through him, and the scope you are handed is the one he stands behind.

On every job

Six things that come with the work

Every one of these is already inside the price. They are also the things worth asking any contractor to put in writing before you sign.

  • 01 A written scopeBefore anything is ordered, with the exclusions stated.
  • 02 Trained crews, in-houseThe spraying is done in-house. The people who quote the job are involved in the work.
  • 03 Depth verified as we goMeasured with a gauge during application, recorded on the scope sheet.
  • 04 Supplied-air respiratorsWith the work area isolated and ventilated, and a re-entry time given in writing before the day.
  • 05 Straight answersIncluding when the cheaper option is the right one for your building.
  • 06 Your building treated like a buildingMasking, protection and clean-up are part of the job and get counted in the day.

Where we draw the line

Three things you will never find on this site

A square-foot rate. A rate published on a website is a number designed to get you to call, and what actually moves the price is surface area times applied depth, plus access, prep and removal.

An energy-savings percentage. The honest answer depends on your building, and it belongs in writing after somebody has measured it.

The expensive answer to the wrong problem. If your ductwork sits outside the attic, we will tell you blown-in is probably the better buy, even though foam is the bigger invoice.

How it works

One process, three stages

Inspect, scope, install and verify. You know the price before anything is ordered.

  1. 01

    Inspect

Someone comes out and walks the building with you. Attic, crawl space, roofline, ductwork, panel — wherever air and moisture are moving.

  2. 02

    Scope

What we are spraying, where, to what depth, which surfaces stay as they are, and what it costs. In writing, with the reasoning attached.

  3. 03

    Install and verify

Masking, floor protection, ventilation and a clear route in and out. Depth verified as we go, then a walkthrough against the scope and the sheet left with you.

Lead times move with the season. We will give you the honest current one on the phone and hold it.

Questions

Asked about the company

Texas leaves insulation contracting outside its statewide licensing system, so insurance is the document that actually tells you something. Ask us for our current certificate of insurance and we will send it, so you can check it yourself.

The spraying is done in-house. The crew that sprays your building works for us, and the person who quoted it is involved in the job.

Ask on the phone and we will tell you straight, along with which of these jobs are our bread and butter and which are less common. You should know which yours is.

The visit is free. Someone comes out, looks at the building and gives you a written scope and a price, and the decision stays yours.
